Welcome to Ceiba

Where jungle
meets the Pacific

Named after the sacred ceiba tree of the indigenous Chorotega people, Villa Ceiba is a luxury boutique vacation villa nestled into the hillside above Playa Islita — one of the most biodiverse and unspoiled stretches of Costa Rica's Pacific coast. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors dissolve the boundary between indoors and out, framing a seamless panorama of jungle canopy and ocean horizon.

Both bedrooms are master suites with ensuite marble bathrooms and air conditioning. The open-plan living area flows seamlessly onto a sun deck with an outdoor shower and infinity plunge pool. Whether you're cooking together in the gourmet kitchen, watching scarlet macaws from the pool deck, or falling asleep to the roar of howler monkeys — every moment at Villa Ceiba feels like a privilege.

Guests are personally welcomed by hosts Joe and Pao Molina, who introduce every arrival to the area and remain available throughout the stay. Seven world-class beaches are within 25 minutes. Scarlet macaws visit daily. Howler monkeys announce every sunrise. Pura Vida.

Wild Neighbors

The jungle
is alive

Costa Rica's Pacific coast is one of the most biodiverse places on earth. At Villa Ceiba, wildlife isn't something you seek out — it finds you. Scarlet macaws squabble in the treetops, howler monkeys announce the dawn, and coatis wander through the garden. The nearby crescent beach is a short drive and often completely deserted.

Surrounding national parks and reserves offer world-class hiking, whale watching, surfing, and sportfishing — all within easy reach.

Seven beaches,

One of the great joys of staying at Villa Ceiba is the variety of beaches within easy reach — from a five-minute walk to a thirty-minute drive. Deserted coves, turtle nesting refuges, surf breaks, sand dollar hunts, and one of Costa Rica's most beautiful crescent bays. Here's your guide to all of them.

Playa Islita

Your beach — just a short stroll downhill from Villa Ceiba through the village of Punta Islita. A quiet, sheltered crescent of dark sand tucked beneath jungle-covered hills with rock formations at one end that come alive with hermit crabs at low tide. Rarely crowded, often deserted. The kind of beach where you feel like you have it all to yourself.

Sunset & Turtle Beach

Playa Corozalito

A small, wild, and strikingly beautiful beach just five to ten minutes away — and one of the best sunset spots in the area. Corozalito is also a sea turtle nesting beach, where lucky visitors sometimes spot turtles coming ashore after dark. The combination of lush jungle backdrop, rocky outcroppings, and reliable Pacific sunsets makes this a favorite for guests looking for something unspoiled and magical.

Dozens of Beaches Await

These are just the highlights. The Nicoya Peninsula is home to dozens of stunning beaches — many of them completely undiscovered, reachable only by dirt road, and entirely yours for the day. Playa Camaronal, a protected wildlife refuge where four species of sea turtle nest, and the wild, untouched Playa Bejuco are just two of the many gems waiting to be explored. Ask Joe and Pao for their current favorites — the list keeps growing.

Stunning Crescent Bay

Playa Carrillo

One of Costa Rica's most breathtaking beaches — a perfect, palm-fringed crescent bay with calm turquoise water, golden sand, and jungle-covered hills sweeping down to the shore. About 20 to 25 minutes from the villa, Carrillo is the beach you came to Costa Rica to find. Calm enough for swimming and wading, beautiful enough to spend an entire day. Combine a visit with lunch at one of the excellent restaurants nearby for a perfect day out.

Sand Dollars & Solitude

Playa San Miguel

About 30 minutes from the villa and genuinely worth the drive. Playa San Miguel is an uncrowded, beautiful stretch of beach in the village of La Javilla — famous among those who know it for the sand dollars scattered along the shore. It's one of the best beaches in the area for beachcombing and taking long, peaceful walks. Pair a visit with dinner at the extraordinary Restaurante San Miguel (run by owner-chef Pablo) just up the road for an unforgettable day.

About 30 minutes away and the place to go when you want more than just sand and silence. Sámara is one of Costa Rica's most charming beach towns — a wide, calm bay protected by a reef, making it perfect for swimming, kayaking, and snorkeling. The beach has real energy: multiple surf schools right on the beach, beach bars, restaurants on the sand, kayak tours to Isla Chora, and a vibrant local atmosphere. Great for a full day out or an evening with dinner and live music. With so many surf schools to choose from, it's one of the best places in Costa Rica to take your first lesson.

Another short stroll from Villa Ceiba and well worth the walk. Donde Cambute is the kind of unpretentious, family-owned spot that reminds you why you fell in love with Costa Rica in the first place. Owner Jose cooks everything with care and pride — his whole fried red snapper is the stuff of legend, and his homemade hot sauce (vinegar with home-grown peppers) elevates every dish.
